Michigan Traveling Vietnam Memorial coming July 18-19

The Michigan Traveling Vietnam Memorial

is coming to Boyne City July 18 and 19.

Consistin of five panels, this Memorial displays the names

of the more than 2,600 Michigan residents

who lost their lives in the Vietnam War.

The tent housing the display will be in Boyne City's

Sunset Park at the corner of Water and Lake Streets.

It will be open to the public from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 18,

and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19.

The traveling memorial was created in 2005 by

Sgt. Kurt Damrow along with John Swanson.

Sgt. Damrow of the 127th Wing of the Michigan Air National Guard

was moved to create this special tribute in memory of his cousin,

Navy GMG3 Oliver Damrow of Kinde, Michigan,
who was killed shortly after his return to Vietnam for his second tour of duty.

The memorial is sponsored by Chapter 154 of the
Vietnam Veterans of America in Roseville.

Virtual Vietnam Wall

The link below is a virtual wall of all those lost during the Vietnam war with the names, bio's and other information on our lost heroes.  Those who remember that time frame, or perhaps lost friends or family can look them up on this site.  Pass the link on to others, as many knew wonderful people whose names are listed.

http://www.virtualwall.org/iStates.htm

This really is an amazing web site.  Someone spent a lot of time and effort to create it.

First click on a state.  When it opens, scroll down to the city and the names will appear.  Then click on their names.  It should show you a picture of the person, or at least their bio and information on the medals they were awarded.
